Labor Day was created to recognize working men and women and has been a national holiday since 1894 in the United States and Canada. Labor Day is celebrated in different ways. It is a day for community celebrations, parades and fireworks. Labor Day may mark the end of summer with a last visit to the beach or pool before the cooler weather begins. To some it may mean a day off to attend to a list of to-do items around the house or great sales for back-to school shopping.
